About Us

The Growing Abilities projects  will duplicate the activities undertaken at Welby Garden Centre to provide supported employment opportunities and choices to individuals with disabilities in other areas.

The first Growing Abilities Project is located in Goulburn. The  Goulburn Mulwaree Council, in support of the project has leased land to the association for the establishment of:-

·   A Botanical Garden specialising in native plants, indigenous to the local area.

·  A Supported Employment Service providing vocational training and employment for people with disabilities.

The  two components are bound together by Challenge Southern Highlands, which will use the expertise and knowledge gained over the past twenty years of operation of a supported employment service and a successful retail/wholesale nursery to make the Growing Abilities project a success.

This service is being established with the support of the community and council of the Goulburn Mulwaree area. Its purpose is to provide people with disabilities the ability to choose the type of supported employment that they wish to undertake.

The service will specialise in the propagation of native and indigenous plants for wholesale sale to landcare groups and other nurseries.

The Growing Abilities Project will be dependent on the support of the community of Goulburn.
